I’d like to share thoughts for the new hospital on County Road 42.

I supported the new hospital in 2012 when I was President & CEO of the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce and signed a letter in 2015 in support of the hospital, with the understanding that there would be an urgent care centre at the former Grace Hospital site. I also recognized that the new hospital has the significant potential to turn the region into a health sciences hub.

In my 2018 mayoral run, part of my campaign platform included strongly advocating for 24/7 emergency care on the Grace site.

It was nice seeing mayoral candidates getting behind another part of my 2018 platform for 24/7 emergency care downtown.

In my September 2022 interview on AM800, I said we need maximum community consultation on what happens with the Metropolitan Hospital Campus site on Kildare Road.

We don’t want what happened on the former Grace site on University Ave to happen here – patch of grass and empty promises.

This is where I want to invite you to tell me what YOU want to see on the Met Hospital site. We want maximum community engagement. Email me at [email protected], leave a message in my Neighbourhood Idea Box, or tell me when I’m out going door-to-door. We want YOUR feedback.

The Matt Marchand for Ward 4 Campaign recommends:

  • Creating a Community and Neighbourhood Improvement Plan for the Windsor Regional Hospital’s Metropolitan Campus. Engage the community and stakeholders—whatever happens with the Metropolitan Campus must meet the needs of the community and be integrated into the neighbourhoods of Ward 4.
  • Consulting the community on plans for the Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus. We need to respect residents and the promises made to them, as well as ensure their voices are heard and incorporated into any plans for the site.
  • Ensuring 24/7 emergency care downtown.
  • Province covers the cost of infrastructure to the 42 site.

Matt Marchand is running for City Council for Ward 4, with his Proven Policy Success and 20 years of working with the highest levels of local government and business.
